This campus was named in honour of Steve Biko who was allegedly killed by the security police during the liberation struggle in South Africa and is the main DUT campus.  A bronze bust of Biko was unveiled at the campus in 2007. It is situated between Steve Biko road and the N3 motorway in Berea. 

The Steve Biko Campus is the home of the Durban University of Technology Gallery and can be found in the Cecil Tenaud Theatre above the Library.

The gallery supports the Faculty of Arts with its primary aim of educating and serving the art community with the aid of research and visual arts.

Residences

Baltimore Flats is can be found on the beachfront area of Durban and is 5 km from the SB Campus. It has accommodation for 286 students 

Berea Residence is on the Steve Biko Campus and accommodates male and female students. It has a total capacity of 315 students 

Campbell Hall, 2 km from the SB campus. It accommodates 147 men and women students.

Corlo Court is a self-catering residence in Berea within walking distance form Steve Biko campus. It can accommodate 93 men and women in their final year of study.

Hertine Court is in the Albert Park , 4km from SB campus, is within walking distance and accommodating 162 students.

Stratford Hall is situated on the Steve Biko Campus and accommodates 149 men.

Student Village is on the Steve Biko Campus and accommodates 70 men and women students. This is a self-catering residence and is only available to final year and post diploma/graduate students.

Walsingham Hall is situated at 31 Currie Road, Berea, accommodates 107 female students and is less than 1 km walking distance from the Steve Biko Campus.

DUT Art Gallery

The DUT Gallery is dedicated to conserving art by the collecting and documenting and has a vast permanent art collection. The gallery has been collecting contemporary and historical art since 1982 . This collection includes ancient and modern objet d'art and anonymous carvings, beadwork, clay pots, wooden and bronze sculptures, paintings and art installations. 

The collection is now classified as an historical reference that encompasses cultural diversity and is continually growing with donations and purchases.
