Widenham is a small seaside suburb on the southern side of Umkomaas on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
The suburb lies at the mouth of the uMkomazi River where an annual marathon canoe race is held. Widenham has wonderful views of the sea and of the lush green hills. The beach is rocky and therefore a popular place for anglers. There is a large floodlit tidal pool, tennis and bowling facilities and nearby a championship golf course.
Residents of Widenham enjoy slightly larger properties than those of Umkomaas or Saiccor Village, as well as much quieter roads, as there are no through roads in the area - ideal for growing families.
History
Widenham Farm originally lay to the south of Umkomaas, however, as the town developed, plans were drawn up for the development of a township as early as 1908. Widenham was finally re-designed in 1948, covering a bigger area and essentially restricted to residential units only.
