places you will never forget

Bikamma Poort is named after the farm over which it traverses on the southern ridges of the Grootrivier Mountain Range close to the town of Willomore.

Distance 1.8 km
Gradient average 1:39
Gradient maximum 1:12
Summit 559 m
Surface Gravel / Dirt Track

There are many poorts along these east/west running ridges and Bikamma is one of the shortest at only 1.8 km. Most of the ports here seem similar however, each one has its own unique character. Bikamma Poort is a quiet, dusty road that passes farms and rivers, you might spot a leguaan when the rivers are flowing, and the space element will give you a true sense of peacefulness.

The poort can be approached from Willowmore, south-west, or from Steytlerville, north-west. Both nearby towns have interesting histories and are worth spending time in.

There are no obvious dangers that you will need t be aware of, the road is suitable for most vehicles, the bends are slight, and the gradient is an easy average of only 1:39. The only warning to take note of are possible flash floods, best not to travel the poort during rainy weather.
