uShaka Marine World

Ushaka Marine World in KwaZulu-Natal of South Africa is situated in the city of Durban.

Ushaka Marine Park is a 16 hectare theme park situated on the strip of land between Durban's Beach front and the Harbour. It opened in April 2004 and has since brought much fun, excitement and entertainment to many visitors and thus positioned itself as one of the main attractions on Durban’s Golden Mile.

The theme park consists of four sections namely Wet ‘n Wild; Sea World; uShaka Beach and uShaka Village Walk:

uShaka Wet 'n Wild

uShaka Wet ‘n Wild is a theme park with everything form a lazy river ride to high speed slides. It has claim to the highest water slide in the southern hemisphere.

uShaka Sea World

uShaka Sea World is the fourth largest in the world with 32 tanks and the underground aquarium is designed around five shipwrecks. Visitors can snorkel in the Lagoon with about 1500 fish or take part in an animal encounter in various ways. A sub-section has been included called Dangerous Creatures which includes exhibits of reptiles, arachnids and amphibians.

uShaka Beach

uShaka Beach has direct access from the park with a large pier leading out into the ocean.

uShaka Village Walk

uShaka Village Walk is a large shopping area designed to look like an African Market with shops, restaurants and cafés.

Tourist can find every type of accommodation in the city and surrounding suburbs. It is recommended that you book very early for April and December holidays as this area is very popular.

Wet ‘n Wild & Sea World:

Mon to Friday – 10h00 to 17h00 (Off-peak season - closed on Monday and Tuesday)

Sat to Sunday – 09h00 – 17h00

Rates:

Children under 3 years of age are free.

Senior citizens, Children & Adult rates vary between R115 and R149 for the Water Park and again for Sea World.

Combo rates for entry into both Water World and Sea World are also available.

Dangerous Creatures:

Monday to Sunday - 10h00 to 16h30

Kids World:

Monday to Sunday – 09h00 to 18h00 (Off-peak season – closed on Monday and Tuesday)

Village Walk Shopping:

Monday to Thursday – 09h00 to 18h00

Friday to Sunday – 09h00 to 19h00

Rates:

There is no charge for entrance to the Village Walk

Senior citizens, Children & Adult rates vary between R20 and R65 for Dangerous Creatures and again for Kids World. Children under 2 years old are free.

Restaurants:

There are various Fast Food and Light Meal restaurants which are open during the park times.

Wahooz Restaurant open from 7h30 until the Park closes. During the festive season it is open until 20h00 for Cocktails and Live Music

Cargo Hold Restaurant Open from 18h00 for Dinner

Climate

Durban has a warm climate throughout the year with colder evenings in the winter months.

Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 15˚C and 29˚C.

Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 7˚C and 20˚C with June to August being the peak rainy season.

Transport

There are Domestic and International flights into Durban’s King Shaka Airport on a daily basis. Bus services, taxis and car rental companies are available for easy access around the area.
