Outdoor fun and relaxation for the whole family!

Enjoy grassy picnic areas, the natural wetlands, large willow and oak trees and beautiful green gardens, where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Bring your blankets, chairs, tables and picnic lunch, or if you prefer, you can have a meal at the Lady Marmelade Tea Garden, or purchase takeaways from the tuck shop. Bring your own braai or hire one from the farm office.

Activities

Activities include enjoying the ducks as they waddle around looking for tit-bits, feeding the farmyard animals from veggie packs you can buy onsite, enjoying the bird aviary or the carnival fun rides, pony rides, tractor cart and mini train rides. If this is not enough, then bring your cricket, soccer, volley ball or boulles set or play a 9-hole round of mini golf for some friendly competition.

Cycling, driving, fishing & hiking

If you are a cyclist, bring your bikes and try the safe, scenic course which caters for all, from fun riders to the serious mountain bikers who will find themselves face to face with some challenging up hills as well as some technical descents. For those not so serious and family fun riders there are loads of jeep and single tracks as well as some tranquil forest sections. Detailed maps are available from The Cycle Hub. There are also lovely walking trails. For the fisherman go along to Fun Fishing to practice your skills or take some trout home for that special braai or braai them there on site.

Bring your dogs

We welcome people with their dogs to come walk or train their dogs in a specified area and enjoy some fresh air and open space with your pet. We even have a Dog Hiking Trail!

Functions and conferences

Book your party, wedding, kitchen tea, corporate or social function at Rietvlei Zoo Farm. There are various options to choose from: Hire one of 10 Lapas in the picnic area or hire the Butterfly Hall or Bumble Bee conference room.

Entrance and hours

There is an entrance fee per person to the picnic/braai area and for vehicles entering the picnic area. Otherwise you can park your car at the entrance free of charge.
