Heritage Square is formed by the intersecting of Buithengracht, Hout, Bree and Shortmarket Streets in the City Centre of Cape Town. The buildings bordering this square are from Dutch and Georgian design. The square was always a hub of activity with businesses that flourished originally such as gunsmiths and cigarette makers, amongst others. Restoration work was done in the 80's to save the square and the heritage of the area. The Provincial Administration, the Cape Town Heritage Trust and Sam Montsi were partners in this massive undertaking.
