Onrus Beach is a lovely little beach in the little holiday town of Onrus, a hidden gem on the outskirts of Hermanus, about an hour and 15 minutes from Cape Town.

This is a great beach with plenty of access to the waters’ edge and lots of space for the cooler box, umbrella, lounges and all the kiddies beach toys! Currents are fairly strong and there is quiet a considerable drop walking into the ocean, so swimmers are cautioned however, the Onrus Lagoon lying to one side of the beach, is well liked by parents as young children can splash around and swim in shallow, calm water.

Onrus Beach is a favourite amongst surfers and bodyboarders and is famous for the Onrus Classic Surfing and Body Boarding Competition held annually during the December holidays. If you are no surfer, the beach is still a firm favouite for lying back on the warm white sand, beach-goers can enjoy marvellous views of the surrounding mountains and Atlantic Ocean. The Milkwood Restaurant overlooks Onrus Beach and is a great spot for filling empty bellies and nursing cocktails as the sun sets.

This is a beach for everyone, bring along your four legged friends, they are welcome too!
