Falke Full Moon Hike in Stellenbosch Rural, Western Cape
This December experience the splendour of the great outdoors and enjoy the scenic views of the Cape Peninsula on the Falke Full Moon Hike, a popular full moon hike that takes place at the Delvera Farm, just outside Stellenbosch.
Hikers can enjoy a leisurely 9.75 km hike on a marked circular route through the vineyards, starting at the Dirtopia / Delvera Trail Centre. The trail gives hikers the opportunity of hiking through the majestic Yellowwood forest to the top of Klapmutskop. If you time it right, the hike should take approximately an hour to 1.5 hours. A spectacular sunset with stunning views of the winelands and even Table Mountain awaits you at the top where you can enjoy light snacks on top of Klapmutskop while watch the full moon rise! Picnics can also be arranged through the Dirtopia Café.
A shorter hike option is available and farm vehicles will transport children and elderly hikers to the start of the shorter 4,5 km route at the famous Pepper Tree from where it will take about 30 minutes to the top.
Torches will be required for the walk down and it is suggested that hikers also bring along something warm to wear for after sunset!
