Bikini Strand

Bikini beach is situated in the small coastal town of Gordon's Bay in the Western Cape and lies at the foot of the Hottentot's Holland mountain range.

Tucked up against Gordon's Bay harbour wall and its protecting breakwater, it is nicely sheltered from the southerly winds which often blow in the summer months and there is a never-ending view of False Bay. Due to its favourable location and safe bathing it is not only a popular destination for the locals but also for overseas visitors alike. The beach is sandy, the water is warm, calm and clear and the locals are friendly, making this the ideal family getaway.

Bikini Beach is rated a Blue Flag Beach showing a high level of cleanliness and safety with good facilities. Lifeguards are on duty during December to March.

It reputedly got its name from all the bikinis worn by female students from the nearby University of Stellenbosch, for whom this beach has always been a favourite.

Parking is limited close to the beach but there is ample a short distance away. There are also restaurants and hotels within a short walk.
