Sun Seekers Paradise

Voëlklip Beach, as the name suggests, is situated in the suburb of Voëlklip in Hermanus and has fast become one of the most popular beaches in this seaside town, along with Blue Flag Grotto Beach. Voelklip Beach is a TripAdvisor 2015 Traveller's Choice Award winner!

The beach is roughly 3.5 km from the Hermanus centre, and a stroll along the scenic Hermanus Cliff Path will have you there in no time!  Alternatively, the beach has a small parking lot if you are driving down, but parking can be limited for the festive season crowds. Pack your sandals for the tarred road walk and note that to access the beach there is a fairly steep incline with a few steps, so it might not be the best beach for the elderly or handicapped.

Voëlklip Beach is particularly popular with younger adults and serious tanners, offering spacious green lawns, for “civilised” sun tanning without being covered in sand, and a few rocky coves nearby for a more private beach experience! It is a relatively small beach, its size largely determined by the tides, as at low tide, you can walk around the rocks to the neighbouring Kammabaai Beach, while at high tide, most of the sandy beach stretch lies underwater. Sheltered from the wind and dotted with benches, Voëlklip Beach is great for picnics

Beach goers may be visited by ice-cream trucks, but for a more substantial meal or to quench your thirst, there is a small coffee shop a few minutes’ walk up the road. For safety peace of mind, Lifeguards are on duty during the festive season!
