The Lisbon Falls, just north of Graskop, on the R532, separates into a treble cascading drop of 92 metres over a semi-circular rock face. It is the highest falls in the Graskop/Sabie area and got its name from the Portuguese capital by the Portuguese who came to live in South Africa in the gold rush days. The creek bed is typical of the area where early diggers panned for gold.

Provincial Heritage Site

The falls have been declared a Provincial Heritage Site.

For a truly spectacular view, take the 100 m footpath from the parking area to the vantage point at the base of the falls.

There is a nominal entrance fee per vehicle.

Directions

To get to Lisbon Falls, turn left where the R534 rejoins the R532.Turn left at the T-junction (direction Graskop). After another 800 metres, turn right onto a gravel road. Drive for 2.2 km to reach the falls.
