South Africa
places you will never forget

The Spitzkop Viewpoint is situated in Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Spitzkop lies on the Prince Alfred Pass that connects Knysna with Avontuur and Uniondale. The gravel pass and detour to the viewpoint is a relatively easy drive with a few bumps, but well worth the trip to the highest point above Knysna. The view from the top has been described as the best in the country and looks out over the Knysna Heads, across to Plettenberg Bay and the Outeniqua Mountains.

There are a number of hiking trails in the area for the more energetic, namely the Outeniqua Trails, the Elephant Trail and the trail to Drupkelders, a cave overlooking the Homtini River. This part of the forest, the Diepwalle section, is where Elephants roam and even though there is little chance of seeing them, it is advised that hikers stick to the paths.

It is recommended that visitors take along their own refreshments as there are no facilities along the route. The viewpoint and other spots are perfect for a picnic lunch and a lazy day enjoying the spectacular scenery. Keep your camera at the ready!
