Paul Kruger Gate

The Paul Kruger Gate is the closest entrance to Skukuza. A large bust sculpture of Paul Kruger is prominent outside the gate. This sculpture has survived numerous attempts to be removed in the "new South Africa". The former president of the Transvaal Republic was a fervent Afrikaner nationalist and racist, but he was also a  big lover of the bush, with the foresight of preserving the environment.

The Sabie river flows past the Kruger Gate, and is known for its Hippos and Crocodiles, lying on the sandy river banks.
