Hicks Art Gallery in Bergsig, Montagu, Western Cape

Richard & Joy Hickman have turned their home at 9 Joubert Street, Montagu, into a fine art gallery, with both Hicks and various other artists’ works on display. The gallery is open seven days a week from 8am to 6pm.

Painting mainly in water colours, Richard’s techniques are as diverse as his works which are very colourful, yet easy to live with. His art works can be bought with or without frames, and packaged and posted worldwide if necessary.

For the art lover this is one stop that will make your visit to Montagu all the more worth while! 

Landscapes

Hick's landscapes include many of his travel experiences in both mind and body. Growing up in the vast mountain ranges of Lesotho and amongst the natural beauty of the Eastern Cape, his imagination was constantly absorbing the elements of his wild Africa.

Contemporary

Hick’s contemporary art embraces the modern eccentricities of life while sometimes incorporating his wry sense of humour in an often dark and mundane world.

Abstract

A look into Hick’s mind reveals a vibrant network of associated ideas and patterns which combines aesthetically to create this alternative art form.

As you come into Montagu from Ashton, turn left into Kerkstraat. Once you reach the Dutch reformed Church, turn right along Badstraat for 50 meters and immediately left into Bloem Street. Cross Piet Retief St and take the next right turn into Joubert St, we're at #9.
