Quoin Lighthouse in Overstrand Rural, Western Cape
The Quoin Point Lighthouse is situated at Buffelljagsbaai, it forms the outer eastern point of the Danger Peninsula area and lies a little further south than Agulhas, which is the most southern tip of Africa! The only way to reach the lighthouse is with a 4x4 vehicle over rather rough terrain.

The steel tower was later replaced by a lighter aluminium lattice tower in October of 1990 that served temporarily as a lighthouse in Cape Agulhas, while that lighthouse was being restored. Virtually marooned and 32 metres above sea level, Quoin Point is probably best known for its shipwrecks that lie on the rocks below.
Seven of the shipwrecks have been documented and some date as far back as 1682, the very first English East Indiaman to wreck on the coastline of South Africa, the remains of this wreck were re-discovered 300 years later. Between Danger Point and Cape Infanta there has been huge concentrations of shipwrecks, roughly 140 in total, all centred around Quoin Point, Arniston and Agulhas.
