S35
Lindanda Road

The name Lindanda comes from a nickname given to Wolhuter by the Swazis, and refers to the cloth he wore around his waist during his time in the Kruger Park. It was on the Lindanda road that he had his encounter with a lion, which nearly cost him his life.

Today there are stone memorials indicating where he was knocked off his horse and dragged by the lion, before he was able to kill it and survive the ordeal.

The skin of the lion can be viewed at the Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Museum in Skukuza.

The S35 goes past the N'wamuriwa Hill (366m) and crosses the Eastern grasslands.

It then links up with the S37 (Trichardt Road) which leads to the N'wanetsi Area.
