Sors ta tête du sable

The Hartbeespoort Dam Snake and Animal Park has and always will be a popular attraction for day and weekend visitors to the area. Situated at the foot of the Magaliesberg Mountains and on the eastern shore of the Hartbeespoort Dam, this remarkable animal park is a must for all ages.

Visitors can see a variety of animals from lions, tigers and even a jaguar to funny chimpanzees, laughing hyenas, wild dogs and the country’s finest collection of reptiles. The Park boasts a seal pool and large arena where seal and snake handling demonstrations are held on weekends and public holidays at 12h00 and at 15h00.

Beginning about 56 years ago, the Park has grown to become an institute determined to contribute to the understanding and preservation of our wildlife. The Park has become well known for its breeding of threatened and endangered animals such as the Cape Vulture and African Hunting Dog and offers snake courses, beginners and advanced, for organizations where their day to day activities bring their employees into contact with snakes.

A visit to the Park also allows for an opportunity to take a 25 minute ferry boat trip across the waters to see a different view of the dam wall. The delightful tea garden alongside the Park serves light snacks and refreshments or visitors can walk across the road to the Snake Junction Shopping Centre which offers a few restaurant options with a few shops to browse through.
