Découvrir l'Afrique du Sud
Sors ta tête du sable

The Wild Coast Jikeleza Route takes visitors on a trip through the beautiful rural parts of the Eastern Cape running from Gonubie, just outside East London, up to Chefane along the coast and to Kwelerha in the Great Kei area.

Named after the isiXhosa expression 'to go around' the Wild Coast Jikeleza Route is East London's premier touristic route and is now the official start of South Africa's Wild Coast, a stretch of rugged coastline sprinkled with some of the best beaches in the world. Cintsa for example, boasts a magnificent 15km stretch of sand, with rock pools and other natural gems to explore on a long, meandering walk.

Due to their remoteness these beaches remain predominantly undisturbed with facilities that run from very basic to non-existent and one should not be surprised to find Nguni cattle strolling leisurely along the beach.

Most of the locals you will meet en-route are only concerned with subsistence living and are therefore easy going and unassuming folk and although the route can be completed in one day why not stay a while in the area and explore the wealth of natural, artistic, boutique and sometimes, eclectic attractions that make up this interesting route.

Wildlife that visitors are most likely to spot along the route include bush pig, duiker, mongoose and vervet monkeys.

Some of the more popular activities one can partake in is abseiling, boating, fishing, hiking, horse riding along the beach, kayaking, mountain biking, shell collecting and surfing.
