Longest wine route in the world

Route 62 meanders through some of South Africa's most fertile valleys and it is thus no surprise that South Africa's leading wine regions can also be found along this route. It has the reputation of being the longest wine route in the world.

Everyone who has travelled through the Breede River Valley and Klein Karoo agree that few places in the world are as stunningly beautiful and so steeped in history as the scenic Route 62.

It was built in the 1920's and passes through the fruit growing and wine producing towns of Ashton, Montagu, Barrydale, Ladysmith, Amalienstein, Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn linking numerous other small farming communities to the harbour towns of Cape Town and Port Elizabeth
