An intimate Coffee Experience

Sabie Valley Coffee is situated 10 km outside Hazyview in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.

There are very few coffee farms in South Africa, so this is a prize experience hidden away in the beautiful setting of the Lowveld. In close proximity to the renowned  Kruger National Park and the panorama route including towns such as Sabie and Graskop, guests couldn’t find a better place to enjoy their cup of coffee.

While it is certainly worthwhile to just pop in and sample the coffee with a slice of delicious cake, it is even better if you take the full tour! The weekly tours, every Wednesday at 14h00, are given by Tim Buckland, owner of the farm and Restaurant. Tim developed his own roasting technique and he is more than willing to share his experience of success in a declining industry. Guests will learn the process from tree to bean to cup as well as interesting facts along the way, plus get to see what coffee plants look like, smell the rich aroma of coffee roasting and of course sample the flavours!

You will leave with a better appreciation for your daily cuppa and probably a shopping bag full of goodies!

Climate

Rainfall occurs mainly in the mid-summer months, with December and January seeing the highest levels. Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 17˚C and 30˚C.

Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 7˚C and 19˚C.

Transport

There are daily flights from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town into the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Mombela (Nelspruit). Car rental companies are available for easy access to the surrounding areas, Hazyview is 60 km away which is just under an hours’ drive. Road trips from Johannesburg via the N12 and N4 will take approximately 5 hours.
