Cango Wildlife Ranch in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape

The Cango Wildlife Ranch is a sanctuary to some of the world’s most endangered species and one of the most exciting and interesting tourist attractions. It is situated only 3 km outside the picturesque town of Oudtshoorn and offers a variety of activities for the young and old.

Humans have always been interested in wildlife and here at the Ranch visitors can learn about crocodiles, snakes, cheetahs, lions, birds and even wallabies! The full tour is approximately one hour, but it is recommend that visitors’ set aside about two hours as there is so much to see and spending extra time at your favourite enclosures after the tour is a must.

The Ranch also offers interactive natural encounters with some of their ambassador species in the park and these include snakes, lemurs, cheetahs and cubs and an incredible opportunity to cage dive with crocodiles. This is the only Croc Cage Diving Pool in the world! All encounters are subject to certain age or height restrictions.

Some of the animals have been rescued from the wild and others have landed here by default, brought in by concerned citizens who find injured animals on the side of the road. The Ranch has a breeding program for cheetahs, Bengal tigers and Pygmy hippos to try and assist with survival of these species.

If visiting Oudtshoorn, George, Wilderness or Mossel Bay, a trip out to the Cango Wildlife Ranch is a must. Don’t forget your camera, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and swimming gear if you are brave enough to join the Crocs for a swim!

Admission

Ticket prices are between R90 and R270 each which includes the standard tour. Animal encounters are charged separately, one encounter can be included in the entrance ticket if requesting a Premium Ticket. Prices are subject to change, please contact the Ranch directly to confirm pricing. Prior booking for animal encounters is advised.

Climate

Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 16˚C and 32˚C with high rainfall in March and October/November.

Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 5˚C and 20˚C with possible light rainfall throughout.

Transport

Commercial Airlines offer flights into George Airport, 56 km away from Oudtshoorn. Car hire facilities are located at the Airports.
