Scarborough Beach

Scarborough Beach, in the tiny coastal village of Scarborough just outside the Cape Point Nature Reserve, is a lovely beach that is never overcrowded. The scenery surrounding the beach is something to be admired, the mountains rise high and make a stunning backdrop to the vast and endless Ocean lying before you!

A few tourists may flock to this small haven during the Summer holidays, but the very spacious beach always has a spot open for a couple, a group of friends or a family with kids without making anyone feel cramped. Soak up the sun without feeling invaded by others playing ball on the beach or those flying kites on a more windy day.

It is advisable to be cautious while swimming due to the occasional rip current just off the beach, but there are stunning rock pools which are fascinating and interesting to explore. You can also get permits to pick mussels here. Leisurely strolls along the white is sand is ideal and the sunsets are exquisite!

The beach is also frequented by surfers and body boarders. There are three possible breaks here, a small righthander that peels along a rip channel in the left corner, a peak in the middle of the beach and a righthander off rocks in front of the car park. These spots depend on conditions.

Facilities are minimal, but sufficient and one restaurant in the village is fairly close, but may serve you better to pack your own picnic if you plan on spending the whole day on the beach!
