St Francis Bay is situated in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
It is mostly a holiday village situated midway between Port Elizabeth and Knysna. Spanish and Mediterranean white painted houses with black roof tops surround the canals and golf course to make this one of the most scenic villages in South Africa. This village offers a paradise of peace and tranquility, a delightful escape from the pressures of daily life.
The canal system ensures a wonderful marine lifestyle for the holiday maker to enjoy from a leisurely canoe trip, swimming or fishing off your own jetty. The Kromme River is linked to the canals and more fishing, boating, kite surfing or water-skiing can be enjoyed on a stretch of about 10 km. If all the watersport sounds too energetic you can always take time out to watch the dolphins as they travel back and forth between the bays of Cape St Francis Bay and Jeffreys Bay on a daily basis. Whales can be spotted from May to October in the area so a trip to the Port for a whale watching and bay cruise is a must for any tourist and we highly recommend you try a taste of the local calamari.

History
In 1575 this quaint seaside village was discovered by Portuguese sailors. They named it in honour after the Patron Saint of Animals, St Francis of Assisi.
Leighton Hulett first started a small fishing camp on Goedgeloof farm in 1954 and later after acquiring more land alongside the Kromme River he began work on the canal system in 1968. Leighton insisted on a specific style of architecture to preserve its character and thereby ensured a village that is quite unique, the well known black and white style of today. This area has since proven to be a much sort after piece of real estate today.
