The pristine Mtunzini Beach lies only an hour and half out of Durban. Here you can enjoy the wildlife around you and take a stroll through the lush vegetation while experiencing that feeling of being far, far away on holiday even though you are still close to the big city of Durban.

Surrounded by sand dunes you can relax in this peaceful, beautiful and romantic setting that is perfect for a couples getaway. The beach has breathtaking scenery boasting forests, rivers, lakes and a nature reserve that is ideal for bird spotting and is one of the very few places that you will find the Palm-Nut Vulture, one of the rarest birds of prey.

This spectacular beach is perfect for walks or just sitting on a dune and experiencing the warm sun, the sound of the waves and the nearby birds in the forest. Fishing is a great past time here, but swimming is at your own risk as there are no shark nets. Sand boarding down the dunes is loads of fun and Mtunzini Beach is the perfect place to do so for hours!

During Easter the local “Anchor Church” presents a wonderful programme for the children on the beach that consists of lots of games to play in the sand and sea.
