Misty Cliffs is a magical little hamlet that lies both on the mountains and on the beach, divided only by the main road (M65), or Misty Cliffs Road, between Scarborough and Kommetjie, roughly an hour’s drive from Cape Town.
Misty Cliffs is a conservation village bordering a nature reserve and has a spectacular setting. It is a wonderful place in which to unwind in peace and quiet. There is not much in the line of shops in the area, so ensure you bring what you need, but you can drive a short distance over the peninsular to Sun Valley and Long Beach Mall to do your shopping. Scarborough s just around the corner if you feel like a bite out!
Depending on the time of year, Misty Cliffs will be remembered for either its sunshine and stunning beaches, or for its wet and windy days. The beach is small, this is part of its charm, but it is close enough to the more popular Scarborough Beach where the larger crowds and surfers hang out. During peak season it can get a little busy, but nothing like the beaches along the Atlantic seaboard and once the day visitors have gone, Misty Cliffs returns to the tranquil natural setting that it is known as.
Misty Cliffs offers exclusive self-catering units as well as guest house accommodation. It is perfectly located to visit neighbours such as Kommetijie, Noordhoek, Scarborough and Fish Hoek which offer enticing activities and stunning beaches of their own.

History
Overlooking the wild and tempestuous sea, the village got its name from its seasonal misty cliffs. The first portion of land, Cape Farm 983/4, was acquired in 1978 and is possibly the most beautiful, with stunning and varied views.
It is one of the few villages left in Cape Town that has managed to hang on to its original, individual, status and even Capetonians are known to buy holiday homes here, in spite of living only an hour away.
