Pioneer Park in Pioneers Park 119-Ir, Johannesburg South, Gauteng
Situated east of Johannesburg's CBD, Pioneers Park, built on top of a reclaimed mine dump, is a lovely spot for a braai or picnic. It is advisable to bring your own portable braai. The floral lush landscape provides for a wonderful half-hour stroll or photo opportunity. The area is "boom-box" and alcohol-free (not allowed) with secure parking. During the summer months flower shows are held in the park.
Musical fountains
The Spectacular Musical Fountains will be illuminated on the following dates between 19h00 and 20h00:
- 24 - 25 December 2014
- 27 - 29 December 2014
- 03 - 05 January 2015
- 10 - 12 January 2015
Admission : R20 for children and pensioners and R30 for adults. Tickets are available at the gate.

Heated swimming pool
Pioneer park has its own heated swimming pool which is presently being enlarged and deepened. Completion is expected in September 2013.
Restaurant
There is a licensed restaurant for those who prefer to sit down and be served.
Boat cruises
Boat cruises are a favourite family pastime.
Wemmer Pan Rowing Club
Pioneer Park is home to the Wemmer Pan Rowing Club.
Entrance is free to all.
Directions
Off M2 south (or N17) to Wemmer Pan Road down to Turf Road and into Wemmer Pan, which lies between Santarama Miniland and Pioneer Park.
